Do I have to be Orthodox to join JDL? Are Conservative and Reform Jews welcome to join JDL?
The Jewish Defense League does not believe in "hypenated Jews": A Jew is a Jew to us. Our membership reflects this philosophy, running the gamut from those Jews who have no Jewish education to yeshiva-educated Jews. Reform, Conservative and unaffiliated Jews are well represented within JDL ranks. JDL membership is open to anyone who believes in our cause and is willing to defend Jewish rights, honor, individuals, property and institutions.
Do I have to be a real streetfighter to join the JDL?
Ofcourse not! Any armchair activist is welcome too..! ;-) True, sometimes JDL has shows it’s muscles (remeber our Irv Rubin bashing the KKK grand wizard on the Larry Springer show?), but we never encourage violence or see this as a legitimate means for reaching our goals. The pen is mightier than the sword...
Is JDL anti-homosexual?
JDL has a policy of encouraging belief in the code of Jewish life as set down in the Bible. We don't ask our members about their sexual activities, but we do not condone homosexual behavior as we feel it is detrimental to the perpetuation of Jewish life. Furthermore, it is not up to us to judge homosexuals; God will judge them as He will judge us all.
Is JDL a racist organization in regard to Arabs and coloured people?
That’s easy: we will fight Jew-haters whoever, whatever and wherever they are.
Don’t forget that there are many black jews! So the answer to this question is NO.
Why does JDL get so much criticism?
We get criticized all the time, but are much too busy helping the Jewish People to waste time on trivial matters. When you walk down the street and a dog barks at you, you don't bark back at it. We do appreciate criticism, however, coming from the "Jewish establishment," which did absolutely nothing to save Six Million European Jews. (Have you read While Six Million Died by Arthur Morse?) This same establishment did nothing about Soviet Jews, Ethiopian Jews or any other beleaguered Jews in our time; only when it became fashionable did Federation Jews get involved. It was JDL that brought the issue of Soviet Jews to the front page of the Anglo press. Until then, nobody knew about the2.5 million Jews dying a spiritual death there. As far as donations go, we are not professional fundraisers. We need people who support the things we do to send in donations on their own.
I read all over the internet that the JDL is a terrorist organisation, is this true?
Our enemies take every opportunity to take a swing at us, favouritely by spreading slander ont the web and in the newsgroups. The FBI, CIA, Mossad or Interpol have NEVER listed or classified the Jewish Defense League as a terrorist organisation. Do not believe this nonsense, read our statement on the home page.
Is the JDL a silent branch of the Israeli Mossad, or a “spying organisation”?
Here we go again... Do not believe this nonsense. JDL Europe does a lot of investigation and intelligence you never hear about, that needs reporting to intelligence organizations. Therefore we have been reporting to the CIA, the German Verfassungsschutz, the Dutch AIVD, the English Scotland Yard and other official security organizations out of our free will and only if necessary. Note that these organizations never officially answer or reply to us, but our information is taken in, without any doubt. There is no connection or cooperation with the Israeli Mossad; this is a pure myth.
